A valve burst in our upstairs bathroom. Torrents of water flowed into our computer/exercise room, dining room and basement cistern room. Floors, ceilings and walls had to be removed. Immediate work had to commence to prevent mold and other mounting damages. Long hours are required of restoration team members. We discovered asbestos in various locations. This substance must be removed according to legally prescribed measures before the bathroom, computer and exercise room and kitchen can be restored. These demolition and abatement tasks have been completed, but we are still awaiting restoration of five rooms.A sudden unexpected flood beyond oneâ??s capacity to control is a shocking and disturbing initial experience. Our routine household daily activities will not be the same for months. We, as well as our flooded rooms, need to be restored. The feeling that life may never be the same is hard to shake. On-Site workers such as Marco, Carlos, Manny and Shannon have worked to help us as well as return our house to its normal state.On-Site services require very difficult, specialized, legally and financially complicated tasks along with delicate coordination of a large variety of experts. I will write about just some of these services and their coordination.All of the household belongings in these flooded rooms had to be inventoried and packed in labeled boxes. Heavy objects in these rooms also had to be removed. One example: Our bathtub weighs hundreds of pounds. It had to be enclosed with a tarp and moved in between much clutter and large packed boxes from the upstairs to the outside.Demolition and removal require powerful tools and equipment and the knowledge and skills for their utilization. The work was started late this fall of 2022 and will continue through winter, spring and possibly summer of 2023. We have a large dog. Protective measures and equipment must be implemented to safely move me, my wife and our dog through the house and outside.On-Site has worked in cooperation with other restoration businesses to service people who have suffered losses due to floods. I know that On-Site works with McCoy Fire and Water Restoration. Restoration services coordinate with insurance agents on financial aspects of losses and recovery. Housing accommodations are often needed for people whose homes have been damaged by floods and fires. On-Site and Insurance Companies work with an agency called Housing Headquarters to arrange for accommodations for their clients who have incurred losses from floods. Plumbing and electrical work will also be needed to complete work on our house.The US is made up of immigrants from many countries all over the world. Most of us have parents and grandparents who had to learn English. Holding a job is very difficult. Using and learning a foreign language is also extremely challenging. Someone who does both deserves praise. On-Site has employees whose second language is English. Both these employees and their managers complete complex tasks with On-Site team members and others.Since the pandemic, there have been severe shortages of materials and workers throughout our country and the world. We are experiencing an aging population with ever increasing proportions of retired people and dwindling percentages of people in the work force. Something must be done to provide encouragement and incentive to conscientious hard working and professional people such as those in water and fire restoration!

Onsite staff members Lucia and Jacob were outstanding, and not only in fulfilling their duties: they were above all expectations in their personal care for us as a family that had been through a traumatic fire experience. They packed our cherished items with care and professionalism, taking their materials and cleaning up and then returning to set up and keep going! We highly recommend this company without any hesitation!
